The ULTIMATE Tip to Give Summer Make-Up 100% Slaying Power.

As much as I look forward to summer, there’s nothing more annoying than the effects that the heat, humidity and air conditioning has on make-up. For me there is a key step in making sure that melting make-up is the last thing on my mind and mean I’ll never look in the mirror at lunchtime to realise that my entire make up had slid off.
It definitely is ‘All about the Base’ and creating a smooth canvas for your make up.

1. Prime Time – A lot of people think that primers are only for people with Oily skin. I have super oily skin and would never leave the house without primer, but primers are great for any skin type. Once you know your skin type there are a variety of primer options that can not only keep oils at bay but also help to conceal scars, fill in pores, even out skin tone, colour correct and give you that extra hydration boost. Adding the right primer before make up application will help your make up stay put and look fresher for longer.
2. Make sure you give your primer time to work. I usually wait about 5 minutes after applying primer before putting my foundation on, and less is definitely more. No more than the size of a pound coin as too much primer will take longer to settle into your skin, making it pile up under your foundation, giving you a cakey finish and totally defeat the objective for using a primer in the first place.
3. I’ve always found that using my fingers works best for me in getting a flawless finish as I can really get in all the areas of my face where a brush might struggle to reach.

This staple skincare- to-make up is an easy investment that helps to save you money and time spent on make up top ups. Just like having the right underwear can make all the difference to your outfit. Primers act as a make up magnet while giving you a protective layer between your skin and make up.
From experience and what works when I’ve done make up on clients here are my recommendations.
My Recommendations:
Oily Skin: Bare Minerals – Prime Time
Dry Skin: Laura Mercier Primer
Acne Prone: Smash Box- More than primer blemish control
Uneven pigment concerns / Scarring/ Redness or Dullness in Darker skin tones: Clinique- Superprimer (oil free)
