If you’re thinking ‘Tech Neck’ sounds very similar to ‘Turkey Neck? Then you’re not far off. ‘Tech Neck’ is the term used for the saggy skin, extra lines and double chin that we get when we look down at our phones up to 150 times a day. This digital disorder is said to be causing the skin around our neck (Y-Zone) to age much faster. Want to see if you might be getting a case of ‘`Tech Neck? Here are 6 signs to convince you it’s time for a digital detox.

1. You choose social media over sleep because your idea of getting to bed early means, leaving at least 30 minutes for you to scroll through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, andthen waking up usually pre-shower to do the same again.
2. When you’re out on your own, your phone is glued to your hand. You’d rather pretend to be texting, refresh your emails or only listen to the first 10 seconds of a song before looking back down at your phone to skip to the next song, than to let people think you have nothing going on in your social media life.
3. The chances are that if you wake up in the night, your phone is the first thing you reach for. Usually, just to check the time, but the chances are you turn down the brightness and allow yourself to get distracted by new notifications and end up on it for the next 10 minutes.
4. Most times when you’re on Instagram or Facebook you often get to the point when you’ve done the full circle and you see the same posts you saw 20 minutes ago, when you last checked.
5. When you post a picture you check back every 2 minutes to see who’s liked / commented on your picture and get excited when the number of likes is more than the picture you posted before. Not to mention the rush of excitement you get when you leave your phone for and extra 2 minutes and come back to double the amount of likes.
6. Your heart sinks at the idea of having to leave your phone to charge in another room because you’ve been a dreadful person and let your phone battery get under 20%. Let’s face it if you can't feel or see your phone at all times your heart just can’t take it.
I am so guilty of Number 1 and 2. What one(s) are you most guilty of? Leave your comments below.
